Good day to all. Sorry I could not be here today. I am leaving you with some big news. The outline to our Final Project in SketchUp. By now you are familiar with using the tools in SketchUp to communicate in 3D. Now is your chance to show off the skills you have acquired.
Please read over the SketchUp Final Presentation.pages very carefully. Do not get overwhelmed. It is not as bid of a project as you think. I am not looking for you to redesign the wheel, only be creative in your placement and orientation of elements for the school farm. Keep in mind, very few things in the built environment happen for a reason. You need to think about and make critical decisions for the layout of the entire site.
I encourage you to put as much of your own blood, sweat, and tears into the design. But, I also encourage you to borrow other designs from students and the 3D Warehouse and place them in your design. You don't have the time and are not expected to build every element from scratch. I am looking for an entire site layout most of all. I want to see how all the pieces can fit together. Detailed design can come later.
For today, start putting the dimensioned shapes down with labels and arrange them so they fit best. Collaborate with each other to try and figure out problems you may run into. Feel free to continue to research and update the Google Preso so all can use as a resource.
Your grade for the day is based completely on your participation and time on task. This is our largest project of the year, we already have a good start on it, but need to continue to work efficiently this week and the next. I am expecting great things come the 10th and 11th. Just in case you don't think this is big league, these are the kinds of projects college design students take part in. You are way ahead of the curve!
Wednesday
Today is a work day. We have a big project on the table and need to get on the horse. By the end of the day, I want everyone to have a rough site layout of all structure in the program. You will be able to address the negative space this weekend. It is my suggestion that you have the site designed by the end of the weekend so you can focus on creating scenes and your poster next week in class.
